WILLOW STRUCTURES
Willow is an amazing material to work with and make objects and sculptures out of. It is very pliable and durable and 100% natural. There are thousands of different varieties of willow, and the willow I use I cut myself from local sources in Norfolk; sometimes I travel down to Somerset to cut a species which is especially good for smaller projects.

VIKING SHIP
Willow can be woven to form fence-like structures such as this life-sized Viking ship in the What-Tyler Park in Basildon; this is similar to another viking project I did with the staff and pupils at Costessey Infant School in Norwich.
The What-Tyler Park has been awarded money from the National Lottery to build several sculptures and will be launched in May 2007, and a book about the project is being prepared.
The life-sized hut pictured below, was a less permanent project built at Ecotech in Swaffham.
